THE Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS 2022) will make a return this year at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Oct 6-9, 2022, with a target to achieve RM350 million of potential negotiated sales.

For this year’s edition, it expects at least 30,000 visitors, an estimated 850 booths, featuring six main events on the four-day summit.

It includes the eighth Selangor International Expo, the eighth Selangor International Expo (Medic) (SIE 2022), the second Selangor Industrial Park Expo, the sixth Selangor Asean Business Conference, the seventh Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy Convention 2022 (SDEC 2022) and the third Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo 2022 (SRIE 2022).

Invest Selangor Bhd CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris (picture) said SIBS is a key global trading hub initiative to assist not only exporters and manufacturers from Selangor but also from other states and regional players to restart their business in the region.

He added that the summit provides the most conducive investment and business environment for Malaysia as a whole while encouraging participants to make use of the platform.

Following last year’s success, the SIE 2021 will be continued this year offering industry players to converge, interact and explore the latest technology, innovation and current business trends in the field of medicine, life science and biotechnology, medical and healthcare.

Meanwhile, Spark 2022 will be gathering key industrial park operators and its ecosystem players which enables potential investors and business leaders to meet and interact with the ecosystem.

It will also house the whole industrial park ecosystem such as the planning consultants, technical agencies, local councils, financial institutions and others.

On the other hand, the SDEC 2022 will gather industry leaders, academics, SMEs and players from the public and private sectors, to delve into the mechanics of existing and future smart city and digital economy frameworks and solutions.

The five core events for SDEC 2022 this year will be Asean Smart City Conference, Asean Livestream Festival, Fashion Accelerator Programme, META Selangor (eSport & VR, AR) and Tech Companies’ Exhibition & Showcase.

In addition, SRIE 2022, themed “Disrupt Today, Create Tomorrow”, paves the way to encourage direct peer engagement for higher-level deal-making, co-investments, strategic partnerships and business networking.

The Selangor International Healthcare Conference 2022 (SIHC 2022) will also be back for its second edition.

SIHC 2022 will bring together experts in its fields of research, services and operations discussing three main themes namely healthcare financing, population health and the future of healthcare.

Apart from the exciting exhibitions, SIBS 2022 will also host conferences, panel sessions and keynote addresses on topics such as RCEP, digitalisations and ESG in Asean perspective and Selangor Culinary Festival 2022 (SICF 2022).

SICF 2022 is jointly organised with the Professional Culinaire Association featuring the Worldchefs Endorsed Culinary Competition — SICF2022 Culinary Challenge; Gastronomic Master Class, Malaysia Chefs Forum and a few others.

Notably, SIBS 2021 recorded RM217.6 million of potential negotiated sales, nearly reaching the sales record in SIBS 2019 (of RM247 million).

SIBS 2021 has also surpassed the initial set target of 10,000 visitors with a turnout of 25,410 visitors, ranging from business owners, importers, wholesalers, distributors to retailers and members of the public.
