PETALING JAYA: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd is collaborating with SME Corp Malaysia to improve the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country.

To this end, the parties have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU), where both parties will jointly provide access to SMEs to participate in various events, such as training programmes, awards as well as financial products and services that will enhance their capability and capacity.

Bank Islam chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the MoU marked another milestone for Bank Islam in pursuing a strategic collaboration that will involve financial assistance, in terms of working capital and capital expenditure, trade financing, and other services such as Bancatakaful, cash management and e-banking solutions.

“We hope that this strategic partnership will further spur the growth of the SME sector, ensuring their resiliency and continues to contribute to the rebuilding of the nation post-Covid-19,” he said in his speech during the virtual MoU signing event yesterday.

He said it was offering various capacity-building financing facilities such as SME Biz G.R.O.W, WinBiz and GO Halal SME, which is a financing facility for SMEs to embark on halal-certified businesses.
