JOHOR BAHRU, July 7 -- A special committee will be set up to examine complaints received from the European Union-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Eurocham Malaysia) and the business community on standard operating procedures (SOPs) under Phase One of Movement Control under the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the idea of setting up a special committee was mooted after the state government received various complaints about the confusion and inconsistencies of the prescribed SOPs to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He said with the establishment of the committee, the state government would be able to identify the causes and steps that could be taken to help investors, especially multinational companies in Johor, in solving the problems they faced.
"Previously, I have discussed with the industry and Eurocham Malaysia which raised several pressing issues, including the SOPs that are enforced (currently) which are inconsistent, and they need the help of the state government to eliminate confusion at the enforcement level.
"For that, this special committee will identify any problems they face and we will find a solution," he told reporters after handing over three ventilators to the Johor State Health Department at Sultanah Aminah Hospital here, today.
The chamber was reported recently to have said that it would continue to increase communication efforts with industry players in the European Union to ensure all SOPs were understood by its members to enable full compliance.
