KUALA LUMPUR: SME Association of Malaysia has urged micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt technology and digital in order to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Datuk Michael Kang said he believes MSMEs could only survive with technology and digital adoption to sustain their businesses.
"I think if the MSMEs are not able to sustain and are not competitive in their business, they wouldn’t survive at all. There’s no other way. This is the new norm. So we hope the MSMEs will adopt technology and digital,” he said on Bernama TV's Midday Update programme today.
Kang has also urged the government to introduce a tracking system for COVID-19 patients and close contacts to trace the movement of these people.
"Whoever has been affected by COVID-19 or is a close contact should wear some kind of tracking device. It is an easy way to control and slow down the number of COVID-19 cases so that the MSMEs can move forward,” he said.
He added that the other solution to help MSMEs improve their cash flow during the pandemic is by speeding up vaccination of the economic frontliners, like the MSMEs
"We can’t ask the government to give more money anymore because there is a limit, and how much is enough? Let them operate and find their own cash flow,” he said.
