KUALA LUMPUR: The government will discuss the reopening of other business sectors, including manicurists and pedicurists, soon, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the government is aware of the losses incurred by such sectors as a result of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 2.0, and that they are still not allowed to reopen within MCO areas.
He said the National Security Council will bring up the matter in its special technical meeting soon and will announce the decision on Thursday.
"I understand the complaints by those affected from this sector. We receive them almost every day. Such services are allowed in Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) areas.
"Those who are appealing are from the MCO areas – Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor. We will discuss the matter and will announce the decision soon.
"If everyone agrees (for the sectors to reopen), then we will announce it," he said during a press conference today.
On the status of interstate and inter-district travel during the MCO, CMCO and RMCO, Ismail Sabri said the government will announce the matter two days before March 4.
He reiterated that the public is required to get police permission to travel from one place to another for emergency cases only.
