KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Bhd has been named the Best Ecosystem Project - Malaysia for the bank's small and medium enterprises (SME) community development initiative called SME Colony at The Asian Banker Malaysia Awards 2020.

President and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah Wan Ali said by receiving this prestigious award, the bank has effectively set a new milestone for its SME Colony mobile application.

Wan Razly said Affin Bank has always been a committed partner in supporting SMEs' journey from the beginning as start-ups, to grow and expand into matured commercial businesses.

"The bank acknowledges SMEs as the backbone of the Malaysian economy, and they should be equipped with continuous support and encouragement to ensure the perpetuation of their business, especially during this difficult time," he said in a statement today.

According to Wan Razly, the SME Colony also comprise the newly launched AFFINWRKFZ which offers a total business and talent management solution to future-proof SMEs' business model with talent retention, insurance protection and human resource development.

He said this prestigious award is a testament to the bank's dedicated efforts in developing an all-inclusive digital platform for the SME community to help them propel forward in achieving long-term and sustainable growth.

"The bank aspires to become the preferred banking partner for SMEs, by nurturing and strengthening the development of SMEs through a wide range of products and services," he said.

The Asian Banker Malaysia Awards 2020 is regarded as a prestigious award within the banking and financial services community due to its stringent and transparent evaluation processes.
