KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 14): OCBC Bank Malaysia Bhd and OCBC Al-Amin Bank Bhd are offering moratorium and restructuring aid for existing loans or financing to their corporate, small and medium enterprise (SME) and individual customers who are affected by the current spate of floods in Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu and Johor.
In a statement today, the bank said eligible personal banking and SME customers can look forward to support through a three-month deferment of instalments or a 12-month reduction in instalments.
OCBC Bank CEO Datuk Ong Eng Bin said the bank is committed to assisting its customers, especially those who have been affected twice over by the pandemic and now the floods.
He said when the floods hit, the bank made a RM100,000 contribution to Mercy Malaysia for their flood relief programmes involving those affected.
"But we also see the need to render more particular assistance to our affected customers as well," he said.
Ong also acknowledged that some of them might have been badly hit.
“While we have already been in touch with several of these customers, we encourage those who still need the assistance to come forward immediately,” he added.
OCBC said personal banking customers can apply for the assistance by calling its hotline 03-8317 5011 during office hours or by emailing floodrelief@ocbc.com from Monday (Jan 18).
Moreover, for SME customers, they may visit www.ocbc.com.my/sme/floodrelief from Wednesday (Jan 20) onwards to register their interest and then the bank will contact each customer to follow up on the application.
