KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 30): Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) has launched its new vision and mission to strengthen the bank's commitment to elevate the economic well-being of its members, customers and the nation.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said Bank Rakyat’s new vision is to be ‘Malaysia’s No.1 Progressive Islamic Cooperative Bank’ while its mission is 'Enhancing the economic well-being of our members, customers and nation’.
He said the new vision and mission is one of bank's long-term initiatives to strengthen its position and remain relevant to the current needs that demand every organisation to be more innovative and dynamic in order to move forward.
“I also think that the new mission is excellent and it is also in line with Bank Rakyat's mandate to improve the economic well-being of its members and customers by providing effective banking solutions that offer added value and positive impact on the bank's community and stakeholders,” he said during the virtual launch event here, today.
According to Wan Junaidi, this new vision and mission will also ensure the continuity of 100 per cent Shariah-compliant financial access to entrepreneurs, cooperatives, small and medium industries, and companies that need to grow their business, especially in a challenging economic environment, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He is also confident that Bank Rakyat will continue to strengthen the government's mandate in ensuring that the people have access to a comprehensive banking services, especially in rural and remote areas.
"Bank Rakyat's goal of becoming a progressive Islamic cooperative bank is also in line with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives' (MEDAC) aspiration to revive the cooperative and entrepreneurship sector through the spectrum of digitalisation, innovation and technology, which are crucial to help the sector recover from the Covid-19 pandemic environment," he added.
During the event, Wan Junaidi also announced the appointment of Datuk Abdul Rani Lebai Jaafar as Bank Rakyat's chairman for two years effective Jan 1, 2021. Abdul Rani was previously appointed as the acting chairman of Bank Rakyat on July 28, 2020.
Abdul Rani said following the launch of the new vision and mission, the bank is expected to introduce new products and services early next year to provide more financial assistance to its clients after the RM300 million BR Care fund was fully subscribed.
