KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): RHB Bank Bhd has attracted the participation of more than 5,500 local small to medium enterprise (SME) on its online marketing platform, #JomSapot.

In a statement, the lender said these are SMEs from various segments including those in the hotel, health and wellness, digital appliances, food and beverage, and fashion and beauty sectors.

The bank explained that #JomSapot is a convenient online marketing platform for product and service promotion that comes at no extra cost. Facebook Malaysia, it noted, has also extended its support to the initiative by providing the platform additional visibility and exposure on its social media network.

According to RHB, this will allow even greater reach for local businesses, as well as instant access to the over four million RHB customers that are already available to them on the #JomSapot platform.

“Our collaboration with Facebook Malaysia enables us to expand our reach to a bigger number of potential customers, which will be a further boost to SMEs. Since the launch of this initiative, we have seen very encouraging growth in local business participation and we encourage all local businesses to take full advantage of our platform to increase their revenue growth,” said RHB Chief Marketing Officer Abdul Sani Abdul Murad.

As of end-September, the bank has noticed an increase in credit and debit card spend of some 20% through the platform, Abdul Sani said.

Facebook Malaysia Country Director Nicole Tan said SMEs are the backbone of the Malaysian economy and have been the hardest hit by the global pandemic.

“We are glad to give our support for RHB #JomSapot and to help provide even more awareness and reach through our platform. This, in turn, helps ease the discovery journey of local businesses for consumers, and opens up greater marketing prospects and potential sales for business owners,” Tan said.

To participate in the #JomSapot platform, existing RHB SME customers can self-register via www.rhbjomsapot.my. Non-RHB SME customers can do so by opening a Business Current Account/I at www.rhbgroup.com.

RHB shares were trading 6.28% or 31 sen at RM5.25 today, valuing it at some RM21.05 billion at 4:38pm. It saw 7.56 million shares transacted.
