KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Following the ongoing floods affecting multiple states in Peninsular Malaysia and notices from the Meteorological Department of Malaysia of continuous heavy rainfall, local banks announced their flood relief assistance programmes to provide financial assistance to affected eligible customers and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Maybank 

Malayan Banking Bhd said it is offering immediate assistance with waiver of fees and charges for selected services, including replacement of debit cards, ATM cards or cheque books lost or damaged during the floods.

For individual customers: 

Maybank customers are urged to apply to its Flood Relief Assistance programme via its email to provide the following:

  • name/company name, identification card (IC) number/business registration, contact number, type of loan/product (e.g. mortgage, hire purchase, term loan financing), vehicle number (for hire purchase)

Alternatively, customers can visit any relevant branches, commercial banking centres or auto finance centres nationwide for additional assistance. 

For SME customers:

Maybank said it encourages affected SME customers to contact their relationship managers for assistance. Meanwhile, Maybank Group’s insurance arm, Etiqa, has put in place a claim process for its insurance policyholders and takaful certificate holders, with no forms or supporting documents required.

RHB Bank

RHB Bank Bhd is offering short-term financial relief to individuals and SMEs affected, as well as providing recovery efforts, including the distribution of ready-to-eat meal packs for displaced families, as well as post-flood kits to help households clean, rebuild, and regain stability.

For individual customers:

Eligible individual customers can apply for the following relief options:

  • Payment deferment: Up to six months for mortgages, Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) loan/term financing-i, personal loan/financing-i, and hire purchase/-i facilities.
  • Fee waivers: Up to six months on late payment charges and interest/actual management fees on affected credit cards/-i, up to a total of RM500. Fees for replacement of ATM, debit cards/-i, and credit cards/-i will also be waived.

Applicable period: 

  • December 2025 to May 2026 (for application in November 2025)
  • January 2026 to June 2026 (for application in December 2025)

For SME customers:

Eligible SME customers may apply for payment deferment of up to six months for various financing facilities, including:

  • Hire purchase and term loan/financing
  • Accrued interest/profit for overdraft/-i
  • Multi trade line/-i bills under trade facilities

Applicable period:

  • December 2025 to May 2026 (for application in November 2025)
  • January 2026 to June 2026 (for application in December 2025)

“Our priority is to support families, businesses, and communities affected by the floods. In addition to financial assistance, RHB will also assist in recovery efforts, including the distribution of ready-to-eat meal packs for displaced families, as well as post-flood kits to help households clean, rebuild, and regain stability,” said RHB Banking Group managing director and group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad.

AmBank

AMMB Holdings Bhd Flood Relief Programme offers a moratorium of up to six months of monthly financing, and a waiver of any incidental or replacement charges for passbooks, cheque books, ATM cards, credit and debit cards. Provide the following additional information in the online application form: police report/confirmation letter from the National Security Council (NSC)/state assemblymen (NSC), copy of IC, supporting evidence (e.g. photos of the incident)

For SME customers: 

Provide the following additional information in the online application form: police report/confirmation letter from the National Security Council (NSC)/state assemblymen (NSC), latest company registration number, supporting evidence (e.g. photos of the incident)
