THE government plans to make it easier for entrepreneurs to obtain halal certification through stronger coordination among ministries and agencies.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the issue will be raised at the Malaysian Halal Council to ensure a more streamlined approval process.
He said this after chairing a meeting of the National Entrepreneur and MSME Development Council in Kuala Lumpur.
The meeting, which was also attended by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick and Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, discussed several key matters including anti-corruption initiatives.
“The presentation by the Securities Commission Malaysia also touched on elements related to anti-corruption,” Zahid said, as quoted by the New Straits Times.
The council agreed to establish the National SME Anti-Corruption Strategy to raise awareness among micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises on ethics and integrity in business.
The strategy, which includes the use of AI to accelerate progress and reduce costs, will be detailed by a task force led by the Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi.
