A total of 64,179 new Bumiputera entrepreneurs have received RM743.86 million in financing through various agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives as of August 31, Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, Ewon highlighted efforts under the Public Service Reform Agenda (ARPA) to streamline processes, reduce bureaucracy, and speed up approvals and disbursements. He noted that TEKUN Nasional has cut required documents from 17 to four and reduced approval times from 21 days to seven working days, while Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) now requires only a MyKad copy, processing complete applications within 16 working days.
Other initiatives include SME Corp’s digital ecosystem via the MyBPI System for the Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera (TUBE) programme, SME Bank’s online application and advisory facilities, PERNAS’ S3P E2E Financing System for digital financing management, and Bank Rakyat’s Quick Response to Entrepreneurs (QR2E) platform for easier access to financing and banking products.
Ewon also said agencies under the ministry continue to monitor entrepreneurs’ progress after financing is disbursed, conducting weekly, monthly, or periodic reviews, and assessing the performance and impact of the funding provided.
