KUALA LUMPUR: The SME National Women Entrepreneurs and Tourism Bureaus will host the "Shine Bright Pink October Run 2025" on Oct 11 at the KL Tower, marking National Sports Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
More than 3,000 participants are expected to take part in the pre-dawn 5km run, aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer prevention and early detection while promoting healthy lifestyles and solidarity.
Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) Association Malaysia president Dr Chin Chee Seong said the event is not a mere fitness activity.
"Shine Bright is not just a run, but a national movement.
"This initiative carries the spirit of health, hope and unity, while encouraging Malaysians to live more active lives," he said.
Organising chairperson Kate Yong emphasised the event's focus on women's empowerment and self-care.
"Women often shoulder heavy responsibilities in their families and communities, but tend to neglect themselves.
"'Shine Bright' is not about demanding women to shine, but reminding them that they already shine from within," she said.
Yong added that participants will open Dora blind boxes at the finish line, symbolising "courage, self-love and shining bright" to be shared with society.
SME Women Entrepreneurs Bureau vice-president and chairlady, Datuk Miccele Siow Lee Ching, said the event also highlights cross-border collaboration.
"This year, we are partnering with well-known Chinese Intellectual Properties (IP) TNT Space and Dora, elevating the event to an international level and positioning it as a cultural bridge between China and Southeast Asia," she said.
SME Tourism Bureau chairlady Datuk Ada Poon Yin Hoong noted that the event also serves as a stepping stone for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
"Through cross-sector collaboration and resource integration, this run will not only showcase Malaysia's hospitality but also enhance our influence on the international stage," she said.
From the venue side, LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Khairul Faisal Othman said KL Tower was proud to host the run, which coincides with its 39th anniversary.
"This is not just about sport, but also about awareness and support for those impacted by breast cancer, which aligns with our corporate social responsibility (CSR) values.
"We want to position KL Tower beyond tourism, also as a hub for adventurous, meaningful and socially driven activities," he added.
Platinum sponsor Thousands of Years Media and Sunstrong Entertainment founder Datuk Wira Jment Lim said his company's involvement stemmed from its commitment to social responsibility.
"Although this world is imperfect, as long as we take responsibility and do what we can, we can still make this world just a little more beautiful," he said, highlighting his company's contributions to healthcare, scam awareness campaigns and previous charity runs.
Meanwhile, M&M Creation Holdings CEO Ben Lee explained the role of IP in the event.
"Dora, one of China's top 20 IP characters valued at USD100 million, will feature prominently at KL Tower.
"Visitors will even see a six-metre Dora figure, which is the first ever in Malaysia," he said.
Lee added that his company hopes to also help Malaysian IPs expand internationally.
The run is organised in collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and Pink Unity, and supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry, Tourism Malaysia and various sponsors including U Mobile, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group (MSIG) and Senz Marketing.
