KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The SME Bank XCESS Programme has generated RM62.76 million in export sales through its International Sourcing Programme, surpassing its initial target of RM45 million.
The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) announced today that its business matching event, held on September 25, successfully connected 20 buyers from Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Brunei with 150 Malaysian companies.
This event resulted in a total of 245 business meetings. “Building on this success, SME Bank and MATRADE will continue to organise the SME Bank XCESS Programme in 2026, ensuring that Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) continue to gain access to new opportunities across ASEAN and beyond,” said MATRADE.
Its deputy chief executive officer, Mansor Shah Wahid, said this achievement underscores MATRADE’s continuous efforts to facilitate Malaysian SMEs in accessing export markets.
“By bringing international buyers to Malaysia, we are creating opportunities for our companies to expand beyond borders and strengthen Malaysia’s role in the regional trade ecosystem,” he said in a statement today.
MATRADE stated that the strong response from both local companies and foreign buyers reflects the importance of structured sourcing platforms in accelerating trade growth.
It said buyers expressed satisfaction with the quality of business meetings and urged the programme to be continued annually.
