SANDAKAN: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) is expanding its Halal Success programme nationwide to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) better understand the halal certification process.
Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said Malaysia’s halal certification is highly respected both locally and internationally, opening doors for local products to reach global markets.
Speaking after launching the programme at Sandakan Community College on Sunday, he said the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen the competitiveness and market access of halal entrepreneurs.
Organised by the Kuskop Halal Development Secretariat, Franchise and Vendor Development Division, and Pernas, the programme also offers training, technical guidance, business matching, and financing.
Ewon noted that halal is more than certification - it represents values of quality, cleanliness, transparency, and integrity - adding that the global halal economy now exceeds USD 3 trillion.
