KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) has launched a central platform that brings together labour market data from many sources — like surveys, government records and job websites — to give a full picture of Malaysia’s workforce.
Known as MyLabourHub — it attempts to address the current problem of job skill mismatch by offering current, accurate labour market data analysis combined with job opening details from professional and online portals.
The platform helps track job trends, wages and skill needs, checks how well labour policies are working, and supports better decision-making for government, businesses and training bodies.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the goal is to strengthen national workforce planning and respond better to changes in the economy.
The MyLabourHub portal has two main features: interactive module — shows labour market data using charts, maps and tables; and publications module — provides access to reports, definitions, labour market studies and classification standards like Malaysia Standard Classification of Occupations and Malaysian Standard Industrial Classification.
It covers eight key areas such as labour supply and demand, productivity, graduates, informal sector, labour costs, micro, small and medium enterprises, and sustainable development goals.
The portal includes over 100 key indicators and uses Kayra-GPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant developed by DOSM, to help users navigate easily, as part of its push to modernise and strengthen Malaysia’s labour data system using AI and digital tools.
