KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Labour Day, Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan expressed his appreciation and recognition for the important role played by the Indian community in Malaysia's development.
Ramanan, who is also entrusted with overseeing Indian community affairs, said the Indian community has consistently been at the forefront of the nation's progress, contributing to governance, public service, business, entertainment, education, food, and other professional sectors.
"Malaysia is a truly dynamic country where all races, religions, and ethnicities play an essential role in national development and economic growth, including the Indian community.
"Many prominent figures from the Indian community have made significant contributions and sacrifices in various sectors, such as public service, politics, business, and non-governmental organisations.
"In fact, many leaders have also emerged from workers' unions," he said in a statement issued in conjunction with Labour Day.
"In conjunction with today's Labour Day celebration, I would like to express my appreciation for the Indian community's crucial contributions to the nation's development.
"Together, as Malaysians, we build this nation. This is the strength of Malaysia's unity," he said.
Ramanan, who is the Sungai Buloh member of parliament, said the Madani government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is deeply committed to empowering and uplifting the Indian community in line with the Malaysia Madani concept.
