SUNGAI BULOH: Micro-entrepreneurs should take advantage of financing from the government offered through agencies, including Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM).
Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said AIM is always open to helping entrepreneurs and small traders who need assistance.
But, he said, the initiative must come from traders, who should seize opportunities and assistance from the government.
"Since I took office, the government has channelled many allocations through AIM. We have never said assistance from AIM is not possible or difficult to obtain.
"This commitment has been clearly stated by the AIM board chairman and the managing director.
"The government is constantly implementing programmes to help. We still have funds to support entrepreneurs and the people," he said at the AIM Hari Raya open house here today.
Present were AIM board chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussain Syed Junid and AIM managing director Datuk Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz.
Shamir said AIM disbursed RM2.6 billion in financing last year to micro-entrepreneurs, who are known as Sahabat.
"The funds have been fully disbursed to hundreds of thousands of Sahabat. This year, the government has allocated RM100 million for micro-entrepreneurs."
