Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development (Kuskop) will collaborate with TikTok Malaysia to support micro, small and medium enterprise (PMKS) entrepreneurs in promoting and marketing their products online.

Its Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic), said the partnership would empower entrepreneurs and boost their sales.

“Tekun Nasional, an agency under Kuskop, will work with TikTok Malaysia to establish a Live Studio in Tekun Sabah and Sarawak. This initiative will enable entrepreneurs to market their products and services live online.

“We aim to launch the first TikTok Live Studio in Sabah by February next year,” he said after officiating the Sabah 2024 Edition Insken Mentoring Program Graduation Ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), recently.

At the same time, a PMKS hub will also be established in Sabah and Sarawak next year to provide entrepreneurs in the Borneo region with a platform to market their services and products.

Ewon hoped that Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) would continue funding entrepreneur course fees under Insken, as it has done this year in Sabah and Sarawak.

“Hopefully, other strategic partners will join in supporting the implementation of Insken programs not just in Sabah and Sarawak but nationwide,” he said.

Ewon further said the best entrepreneurs trained under Insken will be assisted in securing matching grants or funding from agencies under Kuskop, including SME Corp, SME Bank, Tekun Nasional, and Bank Rakyat, to expand their businesses.

At the event, 144 Sabah entrepreneurs graduated from Insken programmes, including 120 participants of the Insken Bumiputera Business Coaching Program (IBBC) and 24 from the Insken Start-Up Coaching Programme, which lasted between four and six months.

Ewon reported that these programs have significantly impacted the entrepreneurs, increasing their collective sales revenue by RM4.3 million, creating 87 new job opportunities, transitioning nine businesses from micro to small status, and achieving a 321 percent increase in diagnostic scores.

“Insken is committed to ensuring that every ringgit spent on these programs generates tangible returns for the national economy.

“For the IBBC Programme, every RM1 spent delivers a return of RM6.70 to the national economy,” he said.

Ewon also said the Ministry’s commitment to helping entrepreneurs, stating that such initiatives reflect Kuskop’s ongoing efforts to foster unity and economic growth.
