KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): The Digital Ministry is working on a new policy to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in leveraging technology in cost-effective ways, according to its minister Gobind Singh Deo.

The Digital Ministry is currently in the process of discussions with the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (Kuskop) to implement relevant initiatives under the policy, the minister said.

“Two things that we see: on how we can ensure that SMEs can use technology, and the second aspect is how we can create a solution that is more cost-effective for them to use technology,” Gobind said in a press conference on Monday after the launch of an impact study of artificial intelligence, digital and the green economy on the Malaysian workforce by TalentCorp.

Besides Kuskop, the Digital Ministry is actively engaging with various stakeholders to finalise the details of the proposed policy.

“I hope that this negotiation can be completed in November [2024], and by the end of the year, we can make decisions for the next actions,” he said.
