KUALA LUMPUR: Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) has announced a collaboration with Bizapp Ventures Sdn Bhd (BizApp) to empower 50,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Selangor through digital entrepreneurship over the next five years.

The MBI-BizApp Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) aims to accelerate the digital transformation and technology adoption among Selangor’s SME community by equipping them with advanced digital tools like the BIZAPPOS point-of-sale (POS) system developed by BizApp.

This system offers features such as inventory management, product tracking, and cashless payment options including credit and debit cards, QR codes and e-wallets.

MBI Foundation head Tuan Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said: “The objective of this collaboration is to accelerate digital transformation among Selangor’s SME community. The benefits include improved operational efficiency, enhanced customer experience, and seamless cashless transactions.”

He added that the initiative supports MSMEs in staying competitive in the digital economy while aligning with the state’s vision of becoming a cashless society within five years.

The signing ceremony and the inauguration of the new Selangor Platform Program (PLATS)-POS system initiative were officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Haji Amirudin Shari during the 9th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) held recently at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Meanwhile, BizApp CEO Mohd Jefrey Aman expressed the company’s commitment as MBI’s technology partner.

“This collaboration is very timely because the PLATS-POS System initiative is crucial to realising the Selangor State Government’s agenda of becoming a cashless society within five years,” he said. “As a local technology company, we are proud that MBI has chosen BizApp to make this agenda a success.”

He added: “With more than eight years of experience in the digital industry and a track record of helping nearly 700,000 entrepreneurs, we are committed to giving our best in supporting this MBI initiative.”

BizApp is Malaysia’s largest rural social commerce platform, having grown from strength to strength over the years. Testimony of its soaring success is the RM5.2 billion gross transaction value (GMV) the company has posted since its establishment in 2017.

The BizApp platform was developed to address the need for a systematic, technological solution to serve agent-based businesses throughout the country, especially bumiputra entrepreneurs within the non-urban population.

The platform is also a key engine of growth for Malaysia’s largest end-to-end e-commerce ecosystem enabler, Commerce.Asia.

“By integrating services like online store setup, digital marketing, payment processing and fulfillment into a single ecosystem platform, Commerce.Asia enables companies to efficiently scale and tap into Malaysia’s and the region’s rapidly growing online consumer market,” said BizApp chairperson Dzuleira Abu Bakar.
