MACRO Tech Ventures Sdn Bhd (Borong), a B2B eCommerce solution provider, is partnering with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) with a RM75 million investment to drive digitalisation among Sarawak’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) formalises Borong’s partnership with SDEC and five other firms at the recent International Digital Economy Conference with a commitment to transform over 60,000 businesses from offline to online.

SDEC CEO Datuk Ir Ts Sudarnoto Osman said the MoUs mark a crucial step in Sarawak’s journey to becoming a digital economy powerhouse.

“The collaborations are about empowering the community with digitalisation to equip local businesses with knowledge, support, and funding to thrive,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Borong co-founder Aizat Rahim said the public-private partnership with SDEC is a positive step towards promoting local entrepreneurship and driving enterprises into the digital era to boost Sarawak’s economic growth.

“We are committed to investing in Sarawak’s MSMEs to strengthen their local presence and expand internationally through cross-border digitalisation,” he said.

Borong will assess MSMEs’ digital readiness and, together with SDEC, conduct awareness, digital training, and onboarding activities to prepare local businesses for its eCommerce platform, enhancing their global reach and competitiveness.

Once onboarded into the Borong ecosystem, MSMEs will qualify for Digital Niaga, an SME financing programme with development banks like BSN, Bank Rakyat, and Agrobank, offering financing rates as low as 4% per annum.

Borong and its banking partners have allocated over RM300 million in SME financing, aligning with the Madani Economy’s goal of transforming local MSMEs into regional champions and boosting Malaysia’s position among the world’s top 30 largest economies.
