The Inclusive Ecosystem Program for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (i-SEE) by SME Corp. Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM), has successfully prompted MyB Innovation Sdn. Bhd. to produce advanced prosthetic legs designed to improve the quality of life for users.

This announcement was made during the Malaysian Commercialisation Year (MCY) 2024 Summit, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MyB Innovation Sdn. Bhd. and the Indonesian company PT Yusuf Ortonesia Medika.

The signing ceremony, witnessed by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, aims to commercialise the MyB Prosthetic Limb in Indonesia, with projected first-year sales reaching RM1 million.

The MyB Prosthetic Limb boasts innovative features, including the ability to bend up to 180 degrees, providing maximum comfort and flexibility for individuals with below-the-knee amputations.

Unlike traditional prosthetic legs, which are typically limited to standing and walking, this new design enables ankle movement, making it suitable for various activities, including prostration and yoga.

As part of the collaboration, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim presented the MyB Prosthetic Limb to Mr. Ahmad Fadhil Rushdan Abdul Rahim, a beneficiary and physically disabled individual.

Fadhil expressed his gratitude for the lighter prosthetic, which significantly enhances his daily activities, including performing prayers. MyB Innovation Sdn. Bhd. received a grant of RM191,859.00 under the i-SEE Program, facilitated by SME Corp. Malaysia through YIM.

Rizal Datuk Nainy, CEO of SME Corp. Malaysia, highlighted that the i-SEE Program offers grants of up to RM200,000 to innovators and entrepreneurs. He stated that since its inception in 2021, the program has provided 40 approvals totaling RM5.52 million. The i-SEE Program is a continuation of the High Impact Program 6 (HIP 6) under the SME Master Plan, which has supported various innovative projects.

Dr. Sharmila Mohamed Salleh, CEO of YIM, noted the significant role the foundation plays as the implementing agency for the i-SEE program. She emphasized that the initiative has enhanced skills in science, technology, and innovation, increased productivity, and improved the welfare of communities, especially for grant recipients and targeted groups. According to impact studies conducted on i-SEE projects from 2021 to 2023, 19 funding recipients reported increased annual revenue.

The i-SEE Program aims to foster the development of innovative products that empower various target groups, including the B40, rural communities, youth, retirees, women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. The program provides financial assistance to innovators and entrepreneurs, promoting community transformation through guidance and technical support.
