KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has launched its twin accelerator programme, featuring the seventh cohort of the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP24) and the second cohort of the Selangor E-Commerce Xccelerator (ECX24).
According to Sidec’s statement today, the programme aims to bolster the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startup ecosystem in Selangor, to create million-dollar companies that contribute significantly to the state’s gross domestic product.
Fifty startups focused on artificial intelligence (AI), smart mobility, bio-based solutions and net zero have been selected for SAP24.
Additionally, fifty SMEs from sectors including food and beverages, home living and appliances, fashion and lifestyle, health, beauty and wellness, and social impact have been chosen for ECX24.
Sidec chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping said over 550 applications were received for both SAP24 and ECX24, highlighting strong interest and enthusiasm within the entrepreneurial community.
Yong said this underscores Selangor's growing reputation as a hub for innovation and business development.
“We are committed to a rigorous selection process to cultivate high-impact entrepreneurs capable of building high-growth, high-value companies.
“The focus is on identifying and supporting the most promising talents and innovative businesses with the potential to scale rapidly and contribute significantly to the economy, further positioning Selangor as a leader in the global marketplace,” he said.
The ECX24 programme spans four months and includes comprehensive modules covering business workshops and pitching courses.
Key areas of focus include AI in e-commerce, branding, growth strategies, cross-border expansion, data analytics and financial management.
Participants will benefit from mentoring sessions with industry leaders, gaining valuable insights and expertise to thrive in the digital age and grow their businesses successfully.
ECX24 winners will receive prestigious awards, including trophies, certificates, cash prizes and potential investment opportunities, along with the chance to participate in a special programme by ByteDance TikTok in Shanghai, China.
Meanwhile, SAP24 aims to accelerate the growth of Malaysia's tech startups by providing mentoring, networking opportunities, workshops and preparing them for investment and expansion.
Startups will also enjoy perks such as cloud services, membership in the CXO Club, opportunities to exhibit at the 9th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention, and international outreach expansion.
