The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced the opening of applications for three key grants: the Digital Content Grant (DCG) 2024/2025, the Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant (MDCG), and the Malaysia Digital Export Grant (MDXG). These grants, available starting today, are part of the MADANI government’s initiative to strengthen Malaysia’s digital economy.
The Digital Content Grant (DCG) 2024/2025 continues to support creative content producers in Malaysia. Since its inception in 2016, the DCG has aided the development, production, and commercialisation of digital content in various industries, including animation, digital games, and creative technology.
The DCG consists of three types of grants:
- Mini Grant: Supports digital content development with a maximum of RM150,000 per recipient.
- Prime Grant: Offers up to RM500,000 for larger-scale projects.
- Marketing & Commercialisation Grant: Provides up to RM300,000 to help companies market and commercialise their digital products.
Eligible applicants include local digital content companies, enterprises, sole proprietorships, partnerships, and limited liability partnerships, while larger grants require a minimum of 51% Malaysian ownership and the Malaysia Digital (MD) or Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Status.
The Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant (MDCG) offers up to RM1 million or 50% of project costs to drive digital innovation within the Malaysia Digital Promoted Sectors. Since 2021, the MDCG has supported 59 companies, enabling advancements in areas like cloud-based defect management and manufacturing resource planning for SMEs.
The Malaysia Digital Export Grant (MDXG), also offering up to RM1 million or 50% of project costs, aims to support companies expanding internationally through high-value technological activities. Notable projects include the promotion of a blockchain-based electric vehicle app across Southeast Asia and the deployment of 5G IoT solutions globally.
