Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has received recognition alongside the two Platform Selangor (PLATS) awards won by entrepreneurs who attended its business development programme.

According to a statement by MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Department, the Micro-Community Entrepreneur Award (Cashless & Win) was awarded to catering business owner Syed Mohd Fadzarol Syed Ali.

His sales increased from RM15,000 to RM20,000 after joining the Entrepreneur Development Training Programme (U-PLATS).

Meanwhile, roti kukus and ais batu campur trader Mardiani Mahyudin took home the Top 12 Participant Award.

As the local authority in charge, MBSA Licensing Department also received the awards during the ceremony in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya.

All of the awards were presented by Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Also present were Selangor youth, sports and entrepreneurship committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi, Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and acting Shah Alam deputy mayor Madiyan Baweh.

MBSA said the awards ceremony was held to celebrate achievements of small and medium entrepreneurs (SME) in Selangor who had completed the U-PLATS first series module.

The programme is aimed at providing exposure and improving participants’ knowledge on managing businesses in a more orderly fashion by using digital platforms.

Participants could register business accounts, utilise the cashless payment system, possess and actively use digital marketing tools as well as market their products on digital platforms, the media statement said.
