Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof inaugurated the HR Management Strategies for Malaysian SMEs Conference at Cyberview Resort & Spa today. Organsed by IHR Consulting and the EMKAY Group, the event aims to provide a dynamic forum for exchanging views, lessons learned, and best practices tailored to SME business leaders.

In his keynote address, Datuk Seri Fadillah emphasised the importance of enhancing HR management skills to build the nation’s human capital. He expressed confidence that the conference would drive growth for SME organisations, enabling them to compete more effectively in today’s complex business landscape.

“This conference brings together human resource experts, practitioners, business leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss and share knowledge,” he said. “I urge all participants to network, explore new ideas, and share experiences to design effective and dynamic HR management plans for their organisations.”

Fadillah highlighted key trends shaping the future of HR practices in Malaysia. These include the adoption of digital tools and technologies such as HR management systems, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics to enhance HR processes and decision-making. He also noted the ongoing shift towards remote work and flexible working arrangements, emphasizing the need for companies to develop policies to manage remote teams and ensure employee well-being.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of creating a positive employee experience to attract and retain talent. “This includes providing opportunities for professional development, promoting work-life balance, and fostering a positive workplace culture,” he said.

“Emphasising diversity and inclusion should be central to HR practices, creating an inclusive workplace that values diverse perspectives and innovation,” he added.

Continuous learning and development were also highlighted as crucial for maintaining a competitive and adaptable workforce. Fadillah urged organisations to invest in upskilling and reskilling programs and to support employee well-being and mental health through proactive initiatives.

He concluded by congratulating the organisers and officially launching the HR Management Strategies for Malaysian SMEs Conference 2024. “I wish all of you a successful conference over the next two days,” he said.

The conference will run from July 16 to 17, bringing together various stakeholders to discuss strategies for enhancing HR practices within Malaysian SMEs.
