SME Corp. Malaysia and the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the effectiveness of the Bumiputera Youth Entrepreneur Program (TUBE).
The TUBE program aims to foster entrepreneurship and encourage Bumiputera youth aged 18 to 30 to venture into business.
Through this MoU, the impact and effectiveness of the TUBE program in producing new entrepreneurs and increasing business competitiveness and resilience can be measured more effectively.
This strategic collaboration allows for continuous review of the business status of TUBE alumni and continues the efforts to facilitate business registration for participants as per the MoU signed in 2017.
The ceremony, held at the SME Corp. Malaysia headquarters in Platinum Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, further strengthens the cooperation between the two organizations in creating a more conducive business ecosystem, particularly concerning business registration aspects.
The MoU, signed by SME Corp. Malaysia CEO Rizal Datuk Nainy and SSM CEO Datuk Nor Azimah Abdul Aziz, is expected to increase business registrations among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promote business formalisation, thereby enhancing MSMEs’ contribution to the national economy.
Commenting on the MoU, Rizal said, “SME Corp. Malaysia views this strategic collaboration with SSM as crucial in identifying the impact and effectiveness of the TUBE program, which has successfully trained 8,543 Bumiputera youth entrepreneurs with total business grants amounting to RM120.96 million.
Additionally, I hope the scope of this collaboration can be expanded to include other initiatives under SME Corp. Malaysia, especially related to MSME registration through MSME Status, which is a basic criterion in determining eligibility for all programs under SME Corp. Malaysia.”
Nor Azimah added, “The cooperation between SME Corp. Malaysia and SSM is expected to instill a culture of entrepreneurship while encouraging Bumiputera youth to venture into business. SSM has implemented various initiatives to stimulate the business landscape in the country, including the Free Business Registration Scheme (SPPP) and the 1 Person with Disabilities 1 Business Scheme (S1O1P).
Through this MoU, SSM will extend these initiatives to Bumiputera youth participating in the TUBE program and meeting the set requirements. This strategic collaboration is an important step in ensuring Malaysia’s business ecosystem grows more inclusively and dynamically.”
