NILAI: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry is channelling grants and business assistance of RM38,779,995 to entrepreneurs and cooperatives in Negri Sembilan.

Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the initiative is a collaboration between SME Bank, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, SME Corp Malaysia, the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN), the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (SKM) and Bank Rakyat.

He said funding was given for the state's Madani Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives Tour programme (PJUKM 2023) in conjunction with the organisation of the Negri Sembilan Fest (NS Fest 2023).

"PJUKM is an initiative of the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry to create an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem, in addition to giving exposure and information regarding programmes and initiatives of ministries and agencies.

"Indirectly, this programme can empower the entrepreneurial agenda among entrepreneurs at the state level," he told reporters after the NS Fest 2023 launch ceremony which was officiated by Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the state government is targeting 500,000 visitors for the NS Fest, which starts today (June 22) and ends on Sunday (June 25).

He said for the first time, three ministries are collaborating with the state government to make NS Fest a success, namely the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry and the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

"The organisation of this festival is timely to provide opportunities and wide space for entrepreneurs, farmers, breeders and fishermen for the expansion and improvement of their endeavours," he said.

Among the interesting attractions at the festival is the NS Food Fest with a variety of unique and distinctive flavours from 45 entrepreneurs and food operators in the state.
