PUTRAJAYA: Members of the National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) and Malaysians are urged to appreciate and embrace the concept of mercy and compassion in their daily lives.
Speaking to the media after launching the “Kasih Puspanita 1444 Hijrah” Tazkirah and Khatam al-Quran Majlis here today (April 11), its Patron Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said such a concept can instil a sense of brotherhood among Malaysians of multiraces and religions.
"One of the concepts under our Malaysia Madani is mercy and compassion. Not only can we gain knowledge and increase income but (the concept of mercy and kindness) encourage us to share together things like looking after our environment and the wellbeing of each other.
Also present was the Head of Puspanita Puan Sri Norizam Che Mohd Nor.
In her speech, Dr Wan Azizah said the objective of the ceremony was to raise awareness among the participants to read and appreciate the tafsir (explanation) and tadabbur (remembrance of God) of the verses of the Quran that were recited.
At the ceremony, Dr Wan Azizah presented Rahmah Puspanita's charity contribution to 135 recipients comprising Puspanita members, single mothers, physically challenged, representatives of Puspanita nurseries and kindergartens, maahad tahfiz students as well as representatives of organisations and charities.
The event was attended by approximately 630 Puspanita members, which also featured the longest al-Quran exhibition in the world, with exhibits exclusively brought from China through the strategic collaboration with Cheng Ho Multi- Cultural Education Trust.
