KUALA LUMPUR: The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) will extend the compound reduction incentive to aid companies which are still recovering post Covid-19 pandemic.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the extension under the Companies Act 1965 began on July 1 and will run until Oct 31.
"Under the incentive, companies and directors are eligible for a reduction of up to 90 per cent of the original compound for all compounds under the Companies Act 1965.
"The incentive was previously implemented for four months from March 1 until June 30," he said in a reply to a supplementary question during the Minister's Question Time at the Dewan Rakyat here, today.
Nanta was replying to Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat (GPS-Betong) on how many companies were affected and the initiative by the ministry through SSM to assist the companies that were about to go out of business post pandemic.
He also added that companies will be able to check their compound status via the ministry's official website, by emailing SSM or visit any SSM office across the country.
