KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia International Agri-commodity Expo and Summit 2022 (MIACES) is expected to generate over RM300 billion in exports for agri-commodity players.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the event would be the best platform for local agri-commodity industry players to expand their product exports to new markets.
"Producers, innovators, investors, as well as exporters and importers from 39 countries will attend this expo.
"I'm confident that MIACES 2022 is a progressive step to connect industry players to innovative solutions, while contributing towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)," he said while launching MIACES at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre today.
The three-day event held until Thursday will also see policy-makers, researchers and academicians gathering to share and discuss ideas related to the industry.
Themed 'Advancing Agri-commodity in Sustainable Ecosystem', it showcases an exhibition of in-demand commodity products, services, and up-and-coming agri-technology under one roof.
It is aimed at closing the gap between industry players, expediting digitalisation to build a sustainable ecosystem.
Among the activities held are roundtables, business-to-business meetings and awards night.
There will be mentoring and guidance sessions for start-up companies in plantation and commodities, apart from recruitment, training and skill enhancement sessions.
Special Farmers Day held during the expo and summit provides opportunities for farmers to obtain information on incentives, support and technologies available in the industry.
Among the participating countries are Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Iran, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Vietnam.
