Malaysia will host the ASEAN E-Commerce Conference 2025 on November 24–25 at the Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur, in line with the country’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year. The two-day event is organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in collaboration with the Malaysia E-Commerce Chapter under MICCI.

The conference, themed “ASEAN E-Commerce Transformation: Bridging Gaps, Enhancing Competitiveness”, will bring together policymakers, regulators, industry players and online entrepreneurs across ASEAN to discuss strategies for a dynamic and competitive regional digital economy. More than 350 participants are expected, with 14 sessions featuring 33 panellists from public and private sectors.

Key topics include creating a trusted e-commerce marketplace, addressing consumer protection, tackling digital piracy and counterfeit goods and empowering the digital ecosystem, with focus on last-mile logistics, digital finance solutions like Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The event will be officiated by Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, with a keynote address by James Dong, President of International Marketplace, Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group. Speakers also include leaders from Shopee, Alibaba, FOMCA and Thailand’s Consumer Protection Board.

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, e-commerce revenue in 2024 reached RM1,230.6 billion, with RM625 billion recorded in the first half of 2025, up RM13.5 billion from the same period last year. Regionally, ASEAN’s digital economy generated US$11 billion in profits in 2024, nearly three times higher than in 2022 and is projected to reach US$1 trillion by 2030, with e-commerce as one of the fastest-growing segments.

The conference aims to strengthen regional collaboration, digital trust and innovation, while supporting inclusive growth across ASEAN’s digital economy. Registration is now open via the official website, with early bird promotions available until October 15 2025.
