KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations are running smoothly, with a wide array of side events lined up to ensure a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil (pic).
The Communications Minister said his ministry has already convened two meetings each for the main organising committees of both major celebrations.
“Everything is on track. Planning and participation have been very positive. We’re still receiving applications from various groups keen to take part in the parade.
“To enrich the experience, we’re also organising numerous side events so that those attending won’t only watch the parade, a showcase of assets or performances, but can also enjoy various activities around Putrajaya,” he said at the Pentarama Homecoming programme in conjunction with the events at SK Bangsar here yesterday, Bernama reported.
He said families and children can look forward to a truly festive and enjoyable atmosphere.
Fahmi said that a range of events are also being planned for the National Day Eve celebrations in Putrajaya and across Kuala Lumpur.
“I don’t want to reveal too much just yet, but rest assured, this year’s celebrations will be grand, harmonious and filled with joy,” he said, encouraging the public to visit the merdeka360.my portal for updates.
This year’s National Day parade will take place in Putrajaya on Aug 31, while Malaysia Day will be celebrated on Sept 16 at the PICCA@Arena Butterworth in Penang.
Fahmi also invited the public to attend Malam Malaysia Bersama Gaza, a solidarity event for Palestine organised by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim).
It will be held at Dataran Merdeka from Aug 22 to 24, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expected to attend the highlight of the night on Aug 23.
“This event serves as a reminder of Malaysia’s unwavering and continued support for Palestine, especially the people of Gaza,” Fahmi said.
Mapim is expecting more than 100,000 attendees.
Exhibitions will include a time tunnel showcasing the history of the Palestinian struggle for independence.
“I urge everyone to come out and show their support,” Fahmi added.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said the Pentarama Homecoming programme will be rolled out to over 80 schools nationwide to inspire patriotism among students.
At yesterday’s event, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including a casual talk session with the minister, cultural performances, fashion shows, games and a Jalur Gemilang flag-waving segment.
