KUALA LUMPUR: Greater emphasis on public-private collaboration is crucial to supporting Malaysia's drive toward becoming a high-income economy.

Strong partnerships between the government and private sector are essential for driving sustainable economic growth, enhancing workforce development, and fostering innovation across industries.

Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof, Secretary General of the Ministry of Human Resources, highlighted the complementary roles of both sectors in achieving this goal.

"The government sets the policy and benchmarks best practices globally, but execution lies with the private sector," he said.

By strengthening collaboration, Malaysia can accelerate economic progress, attract foreign direct investment, promote digitalisation, innovation and inclusive growth that benefits all income groups.

Azman cited attractions like WynSnow, a 24,500-square-foot snow-themed attraction by property development and property investment group I-Berhad, as examples of how private enterprises can lead innovation while aligning with national priorities.

I-Berhad recently launched WynSnow on the 48th floor of Wyndham Suites KLCC, offering a new model for corporate learning and engagement in Malaysia's dynamic city centre.

Initially designed as a leisure destination for families and tourists, WynSnow's unique sub-zero environment and immersive features are now being recognised for their potential to revolutionise corporate training and team-building programmes.

During a preview of the facility, Azman praised WynSnow as a glimpse into the future of professional development.

"Facilities like this can speed up learning by connecting participants with the skills they need through more dynamic and engaging formats. This is how we can start thinking about the future of training. It's not going to be confined to classrooms anymore. With a differentiated environment, combined with new technology, we can have a very different and effective approach," he said.

Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai, executive chairman and founder of Top Glove Corp Bhd, who visited WynSnow on Tuesday, believes that integrating an attraction within a hotel is a smart and sustainable business model.

"Think about it—hotels typically invest heavily in marketing. But an attraction like this? It markets itself while generating revenue at the same time. That's a strategic and efficient approach to business," he told Business Times.

Lim emphasised that success hinges on two key factors: economic conditions and execution.

"With I-Berhad's capable team and Malaysia's recovering tourism sector, I see this as a strong business model."

He described WynSnow as a creative and innovative addition to Malaysia's hospitality landscape, introducing a concept never seen before in the industry.

"Yes, new ideas carry risk, but I-Berhad has the experience to make it work. They're filling a real need. When guests stay at Wyndham, WynSnow gives them something truly unique to experience. That's powerful. It draws crowds while promoting the hotel naturally."

WynSnow features two main sections: a real-snow play zone for interactive activities and a versatile function space ideal for corporate workshops, leadership retreats, and creative breakouts.

The venue's tech-enhanced features, such as 3D snowfall illusions and glacial floor effects, create an immersive learning environment that enhances engagement and retention.

Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, chairman of I-Berhad, emphasised the multifunctional nature of WynSnow.

"WynSnow was conceived first as a leisure attraction for families, but its infrastructure naturally lends itself to memorable corporate experiences. We've created a space where corporate teams can learn, bond, and build in ways that are both fun and impactful." he said.

By leveraging innovative private-sector initiatives like WynSnow, Malaysia can further integrate experiential learning into its corporate and educational landscapes—enhancing workforce readiness and reinforcing its high-income aspirations.

"We are fully prepared just in time for the Asean 2025 meeting in Kuala Lumpur. Wyndham Suites KLCC offers spacious and luxurious two-room suites, providing delegates with exceptional accommodation, while our hotel attractions ensure an enjoyable experience for their families.

"With Visit Malaysia 2026 on the horizon, we are planning even more innovative attractions to enhance the guest experience," he said.
