The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) in collaboration with the Melaka government recently organised the One District One Industry (SDSI) Madani showcase at the Melaka International Trade Center (MITC).

Held on Oct 6 to 8, 2023, it was officiated by Kuskop Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick.

The showcase attracted 20,000 visitors with cash sales of RM100,000.

Kuskop also projected RM3 million of potential sales from the business matching programme and another RM3 million potential financing amounting through the Biaya Usahawan programme.

A total of 14 state and federal pavilions were opened for 146 SDSI entrepreneurs from across the country in four clusters, namely Food & Beverage (F&B), homestay,  crafts products and health products and services.

Meanwhile, the Madani Anekarasa sale featured 43 entrepreneurs with a variety of unique and popular menus from all over the country.

This program aimed to provide a marketing platform for quality SDSI products and services, improving their image, and educating the public on the potential and quality of SDSI products and networking.

The showcase also gave an opportunity to Kuskop and the Melaka state government and its agencies to provide information on entrepreneurial services and cooperatives through briefing sessions and exhibitions for entrepreneurs, cooperatives and the local community.

Additionally, to help the community cope with the increase in the cost of living, Kuskop through the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) held a Madani Cooperative Sale (JMK) which offered basic needs such as rice, eggs and cooking oil below market price.

Kuskop also worked with other ministries through the Rahmah sales by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) and the Agro Madani sales by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM).

Meanwhile, the Padaniaga programme helped SDSI entrepreneurs and cooperatives to increase opportunities to expand market access.

The goal of this program was to connect businesses and cooperatives with large supermarkets, multinational companies and government-linked companies (GLCs).

At the programme, Benedick launched the earthen pot products by SDSI entrepreneurs under the National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN).

The “Anugerah Usahawan Harapan SDSI” was presented to recognise SDSI entrepreneurs who have the potential to inspire and encourage their peers.

“We hope that this programme can boost entrepreneurship and cooperative activities among SDSI entrepreneurs nationwide.

“This is in line with the vision of Malaysia Madani towards a developed and prosperous nation,” Kuskop said in a recent statement.
